Community Weight Loss Challenge

Have you set fitness and weight loss goals for the new year? Need a little help maintaining your resolution? Looking for an opportunity to socialize and exercise?  

The Colorado Springs Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is hosting the 2nd Annual Community Weight Loss Challenge – A New Year’s Revolution (The Challenge). The Challenge provides the community with a fun, safe environment that encourages you to lose weight and reach your personal fitness goals with friends and family so you don’t have to go it alone.  

Monies collected for the Challenge go towards the purchase of prizes. Each Saturday, we conduct a weigh-in to calculate the percentage of total weight loss by person, exercise and, on occasions, discuss overall health and nutrition options. 

We also give bi-weekly prizes for the person who loses the highest percentage of weight to encourage you to stick with weight loss goals.  Then, at the end of the challenge, we will crown the overall winner of the community weight loss challenge who cumulatively lost the highest weight loss percentage!

CWLC Tip of the Week:


Eat your food sitting down at a table, and from a plate. Food eaten out of packages and while standing is forgettable. You can wind up eating lots more than if you sit down and consciously enjoy your meals. The same goes for day-long nibbling. Eat regular meals and planned snacks. Drink plenty of water so you don’t confuse thirst with hunger.
